Friday morning I called in a nice Jake for a real good friend of mine. It was the smallest of three birds, but he was down to his last huntable day, so he did not take any chances. It was a neat Jake 14.6 pounds and a double beard, one about 5 inchs and the other about 3 inchs. His first response was that it would have been a dandy next year, and I said hell it's a great bird this year. I had a little time over the weekend to do some scouting for a couple of guys that have the late hunt, and I must admit, I was surprised how active I found the Toms to be. I scouted area K,U,and UB and there were gobbling birds at each spot. I'm still getting shock gobbles from heavy cutting and crow calls and as of late (heavy cover) the screaming peacock is working well. Good luck late season hunters...
