Just got back from rogers city

Just got back from Rogers city and came home empty handed but with much more respect for the wild turkey after my first turkey hunt. My 9 year old daughter went with me which probably limited my chances some, trying to keep her interested and busy but it was well worth the experience she had. And she really loves to be with dad in the woods. we did have a big tom in the area the last morning but couldnt get him in. and also we ran accross a hen setting on a nest with eggs in which she (my daughter)thought was really neat as did I. As a bonus to the trip we got lots of mushrooms( beefstakes). She also found a couple turky feathers, so all in all even though we didnt get a turkey, it was a highly succsessful hunt. Thanks to TROUT AND NAILER for your tips, even though we came home without a turkey , the tip you gave helped me out. Thanks again, rivrat

Rivrat - Glad to here you had a good time, especially glad you took your daughter along. How was the weather? As for the mushrooms I must of saw a bazillion of those beefsteaks, but didn't know if they were edible or for that matter if they were any good. As for not bringing a bird home there's always the fall hunt! At least that's what I told myself.
