Will probably be buying a flat bottom boat with a old Johnson 5 1/2 late 50's,its green with a twist tiller and pressurized remote tank, does anyone know where to get parts for this in West Michigan?.It will probably need a impeller, lots of shear pins and a couple props after it hits the river, along with basic tune-up parts.

These 3 sites have been good to me the past week or so. I am working on a 1963 johnson 5.5 and trying to get it to run and look like new. I placed an order with the boats.net site so hopefully all of my parts are still available. You may have to cross reference part numbers with the different sites to get what you need. The latest exploded diagrams you can find online are 1968 but a lot of the parts are the same on the older models. For example my motor is a cd-20c. In 1968 it was called a cd-25c and most of the parts are the same. Good luck

I didn't read your part about in west Michigan. I don't think you will find the parts you need unless you pay stealership prices.
try this site too.

I don’t now what is in your area but any Johnson/Evy shop should be able to get you anything you need for that motor if they don’t have it on the shelf. Should not be to pricy!

Download the Siearra catalogue from Siearra website. They make the parts for NAPA and use the same part numbers. I usually just call the part # in to my NAPA and have what I need in a day or two.
Or Van's down on Alpine just past the Hwy.
That motor is probably an early 50's ... maybe late 40's. Don't recall when Johnson went from the Green color to the Bronze/Copper color. But I know '57, '58 were the bronze color.
