I'm not really sure this is the right hire. I would have liked to see Avery Johnson, but there has got to be a reason Joe D. wanted Curry. I just hope he doesn't coach as badly as he played.

The funny thing about basketball is,, great players rarely make good coaches. The "career bench warmers" seem to be the better coaches. It always seemed to make sense,, you're on the bench watching all the mistakes and you get a first hand look at how coaches react to all situations. With that said,,,, Curry is NOT the answer to this team. In other news,,,, Joe D rumored to be looking at Carmelo............

Makes me wonder if Curry was much more respected by the players than Flip, that could have weighed heavily in Joe D's decision making.........

Avery Johnson couldn't get it done in Dallas, so why in the hell would we want him? Joe D just fired Flip for the same reason!!! The best alternative anyone can seem to come up with is Avery I can't win a championship Johnson! He is not the answer. Is Curry the answer, we shall soon find out...

The only reason A.J. couldn't get it done is because he had a superstar choke-job artist by the name of Dirk messing things up. He basically had the 2006 title wrapped up, then Dirk started curling up in a ball.
Im not sure about the Curry hire. He's got one year as an asst coach? Joe must either see something in him or just want a young coach who he can control. I was thinking Joe would get Avery. Some guys knock Avery for not getting it done but hes a young coach who's now got his feet wet, Avery also had to deal with Dirk "No D". and a Real high profile, hands on owner.

I don' get why people are saying hiring Curry is the wrong answer...he has never coached!!! Lets give the guy a chance before we judge him. Avery, like someone said, was similar to Flip...outstanding regular season coach; crappy playoff coach.
Curry has played with many of these players, the players already repect him and know him well. He knows what works and what doesn't work for this team, at least we all better hope. Honestly, i think it's a good hire, lets see what he can do, there were no other better options out there imo.
