Just wanted to shout, I bagged mt first turkey on the
opener 3/24/00. An extreme case of beginners luck I'm
sure. Saw a hen crossing a 2-track while scouting from
my vehicle, checked out the area and found alot of sign.
Set up there opening morning at 6:00am, around 8:15
was standing up gettin the circulation going again when
a gobble from behind my wife and I shocked us. We sat
down and I faced the sound, soft yelped and he gobbled
two more times obviously getting closer. I saw a red head
heading towards us very quickly and dusted him at fifteen
yards. Nine inch beard and inch long spurrs, dressed out
and baked at 18 lbs. My wife and I continued to hunt the
rest of the week to try and get her one, had acouple of close encounters but no luck. We're both hooked for life.
