Any help would be great. Heading out fishing this weekend on HL. Generally drift the lake and cast jigs, for bass, walleye, and pike. Staying on Old Trail near the east bay, just down from the marina, forget the name of it.

Any help on specific areas to try or techniques would be appreciated. Heading out on a pontoon with myself, my buddy, my wife, and four children, 4,6,6,12. Should be fun.

Late night cocktails and the hope of a bonfire, along with a few smiles for the kids, will get me through the stress of the "when are we going to catch fish", my line is tangled again, and again, and again", and the constant "leave the line in the water, you don't need to keep reeling it in".

I joke, should be fun:dizzy:

....but drifting around the east bay end of the lake from the marina over to the East Bay Lodge can be quite productive at times. Harvey's is the marina over there and we recently found out its closing up......

Since your over by the east side I'd shop for bait, supplys and fishing info over on that side. Stop in at Korbinski's on M-18 or if your further north up the coast hit up Sportsman's Resort, it near the Spikehorn. ;)

:yeahthat:

Drifting with bobbers is always fun also...never know what you'll get!! Harvey's Marina just couldn't do it anymore with these hard times and lack of business!! It's unbelievable how many places are for sale up there or being foreclosed on!!

Now that Lake Erie is slow during the May Fly run I might head up to HL this weekend. How is the walleye bite there? Do you guys fish for them similar to the way we do in Lake Erie? I also want to catch some of those big Crappies and Blue Gills I've been hearin about and also some nice northerns. Hopefully the weather is ok for this weekend. See ya all up there this weekend hopefully.

p.s. Would a 19ft trophy work up there? If not, we'll just take my buddies 16 ft'r instead.

Trophy will work fine....you may need to walk it in though depending on where your staying because of the shallow sandy areas along shore!
