Hi, I just bought a 1982 Grady White 24 and the engine needs some work. I think it is a carb problem, but? Can someone recommend a reliable person within 50 miles or so of Traverse City? I have never used a repair facility up here and I would like to get a good reference or two from some people who know the area. Thank You in advance for your advice.

MacDonald's marina near Frankfort has what I concider the best marine mechanics around. Granted . You'll have to pay marina labor prices. But they are the only ones I will allow to work on my boat since Uncle Rod's in Elk Rapids lost the best old motor mechanic around. Guy by the name of Ted Burg. You also might want to call D&D in Rapid City. He comes into my store every morning and is well versed on older motor repair. Their # is 231-331-7008. If ya go there tell him The Shell Guy sent ya.

Stander Marine in Leland. I've never heard a bad thing about them....well...my boyfriend works there so of course not. ;) I'm not sure if there would be a wait or not but it'd be worth a call.

There is a small shop out on the old mission peninsula, on center road about 15 miles out west side of street just before the Old Mission Tavern. This guy maintained my boat for the 4 years I lived out there and did a good job.
