Can anyone recommend a Bluegill/Panfish lake in the Oakland county area? What sort of boat can be used? Can it be fished from shore?

I'm curious about the same thing. I'm looking for something that can be fished from shore as well.

I've caught tons from the DNR Public launch at both sites. In my past I owned a Tournament trail, while the anglers were fishing my son and I would fish from shore/ wade. We'd do great with a fly rod and a foam ant and you really couldn't call us fly fishermen. Numbers and we could sqweek out a limit, Lake Orion. Lake Oakland had nicer fish and a better selection, with bass, gills, crappie and nice perch. Really, any lake that has a harder bottom and a launch you'll do well with.
Pontiac has a decent number of fish but I really couldn't say you'd get an easy limit. I was keying on bass and saw lots of gills.
Lakeville lake has a decent number of fish, easy to catch a limit but you have a real small shore to work with.
Stoney Creek is good, you'll catch pike, bass and gills.
Another fun fish to catch was carp, I watched a guy do this and he was kind enough to let us use his equipment.
All the above mentioned is shore or wading at a launch or shoreline at a park.

I think for what he is really trying to "catch" he should not target carp :lol::lol:
Lake Orion is a pretty good spot for pan fish.

Union Lake has nice NICE panfish in it. My biggest Gill came out of that lake at just over 2lbs. Little twisters, tubes, micro shads and CD3 rapala all work great. Don't be surprised if you hook into a walleye or pike on the CD3 rapala either. - Bryon
