I run Fireline off my reel, but just curious for the whippers, what do you run on your leads for your plugs and raps. Do you run Fireline or use Mono?
Thanks.

Spiderwire braid for the main and fluorocarbon for the leaders. Not only do I think the fluoro results in more fish, it also helps when you get tangled up so that you can see the difference between the main and leaders.

Hey Brian - I also use Fireline for the main line, for my leaders I use Seaguar Carbon Pro. (100% fluorocarbon)

30 lb power pro main line braid.
20 lb mason line leaders to plugs and sinker
Only way to go.
Should have at least 4 others on here vouch for this set up if not more ..........

I run the Mason mono leader line. It does not twist or tangle. Durable. Usually slightly smaller rating than the main. I use a lighter weight line for my sinker, too. Would rather lose just a sinker if there are any snags, as opposed to the whole rig. With the setup I have I have snagged and pulled up several other rigs that have been lost by other anglers, and am confident using it. I do catch fish with my setup as well.
For the guy using Mono Main for Whipping (Craig1100):Does that really work? Most tell me it has way too much stretch. Are you just joking? Was out with two pals one night and one was using Mono, he couldn't hook the fish. We had 8 fish in the boat before he switched Poles and started to hook fish. TRUE STORY! Just askin'?

Mono has way too much stretch for me to bother with. I even made the old man change a few years ago... My .02.
