Monday I hunted almost all day. Had them come close about 8:00 but the real hens kept them busy!! At noon I hit the box call pretty hard and had a tom start to come in. I saw him at 100yds and saw he was sweeping his path with his beard!!! He came in be hind a dead fall very slow, so I got into position and waited!!! Every time he gobbled I heard one gobble way off to my right!!! He was coming in fast!! I didn't move because the bird on my left was going to come around the dead fall any second!!! Next thing I know there's three toms to my right!!! What a beautifull sight, blue and red heads one had about an 8" beard!!! I could not move!!! Then I got busted, they came as close as 10yrds, the dekes were to my left, and they all spotted me!!! In the afternoon I called in 4 jakes with 2" beards, didn't want to shoot'em.
Got home from work Tuesday and thought I should check behind the house. There was a tom and a hen I saw with the spotting scope and from a 1/2 mile away I saw a good beard on him!! I could'nt get my camo on fast enough!!! I took one more look and they were headed west, I ran down the deer trail to with in 100yrds of my deer blind and spooked 11 deer, some ran towards the turkeys and I thought it was over!! I got in the blind and yelped on my plunger call, waited about 15min and yelped with it again and my diaphram!!! 5min later I saw him coming!! Then he strutted, I purred with the mouth call and he liked that, I shot him at 30yrds, 21#s, 9 3/4" beard, 1" spurs!!! Now I can't wait to get my son infront of one!! Scouted his area last Sat afternoon and had one Gobbling on his own!!!! :D
