Looks like a log perch to me.
The log perch, Percina caprodes, is a member of the darter family. They reach lengths of about 5 inches and are very common in the lakes and streams of Michigan. Some identifying characteristics:
dorsal fin of 15 rays
anal fin of 9 rays
lateral line of 80-90 scales with a black spot at the base of the caudal fin

Scubajay! It is a logperch (Percina caprodes). They are quite common in the St. Clair River, but numbers have been reduced due to competition with the exotic round goby. They are not often caught by anglers due to the very small mouth.

Caught quite a few the past few years vertical jigging up in the lake. One right after another as they pepper your bait. If you get a chance to watch the local scuba-diver movie recently produced with the help of the Acheson Foundation "Under the Bluewater Bridge", you will see/hear mention of the log perch. The movie focuses on many local fish especially the sturgeon below the bridge.
Is the log perch the same as the trout perch? I remember reading something about a trout perch in the st.clair water system - Bryon
