View Full Version : Lake Walleye are winning the war but the Perch lost a battle

Woke up this morning to very strong South winds. My son said he wanted to go but when he looked at the trees leaning over out his window he said, "I don't think so dad" so I headed out solo in seach of some Perch. As much as I didn't wan't to burn the $4 gas, I headed to the Canadian side. I soon remembered why I rarely taget them this time of year. After 7 ot 8 moves in tough conditions, I still hadn't caught my 1st Perch. I finally landed on some active fish and it was game on. I figured it was an easy limit but at 44 fish, someone turned the switch off. It took me 4 moves and probably 2 hours to catch those last 6 fish. Oh well, it was a nice day so I didn't mind too much. Anyway, minnows were the ticket and when they shut down, slips took 5 of the last 6 fish. Fish were in the 9 - 12 inch range. I threw back some 8's which I was questioning at the end when I was struggling. Here is a pic of the cooler:

Nice work John.
I woke up at 6 to go but the weather report was gloomy. I looked outside and saw dark gray skies and figured, no way.
Went back to bed and woke up at 8:45 to blue-ish skies, calm winds, and warm temps.
Stupid weathermen!

I figured when I watered the grass this morning that would seal the deal for a rain storm but the sun was out all day:dizzy:
Seriously, why even spend the hundreds of thousands of dollars for "Doppler Radar", just guess, the results would probably be better.
Stupid weathermen!
That sure looks like a nice meal. Very nice job. - Bryon
