We went to Leamington, Ont. yesterday. A 1/2hour from the bridge. My buddy has been killing the perch there all summer. Kept 133 over 8". They bit steady from 8 till 1 when we quit. Must've sorted through 500. It's easy fishing. Only about 1/4 mile west of the harbor in 30' of water. The best part? Only 5 other boats. Plus, we were cleaning fish instead of watching the pathetic Lions.

When you say "the water intake" are you speaking of the water intake for the Fermi plant? I went out to Stoney point a couple of weeks ago 'cause that's where the bite was, but didn't know how deep the perch were. Found out later that they were in 24' and we were fishing in 18'. I'll be out on the lake again when I get more specific reports.

im sorry i should have been more specific. its the toledo water intake. but you dont have to go that far . once you get over the ditch (shipping channel) try working the east side of the channel. out of bolles harbor launch head towards toledo harbor light (outer light) if you can see the davis bessey nuke plant head for it till you cross the ditch then start working that area south/southeast. ive found a better bite over there than in mich waters. i dont know why but im sticking with the little longer ride. the fish seemds to be more consistant over there. ives marked alot of fish on my way over there but cant get them to go

Went out Monday afternoon about 2:00. Stopped at E-Can (Bolles Harbor) nothing but dinks. Headed towards Stoney Point 22-24 ft water. Caught a few 8-9 inchers and a lot more dinks. Moved around 4 times with last stop at the MI/OH border. A few dinks there too. Not a good report, but a report just the same. Definitely had better luck the last two weeks. Hopefully this cold snap will get the jumbos out of OH water and head this way.

Leamington Ont..... Boy it's been years. My dad used to take me when I was about 10 years old. Now I am 35. We would fish off of this cement walkway. Is it still there and can you catch fish from there? Thanks for the reports. Makes me think of some great times!

Big Daddy, I could have written your post. Most of the time we fished from a boat, but in the early spring we would fish the cement dock where the Heinz warehouse used to operate, I believe this is the cement walkway you are reffering to. I'm 35 myself and haven't been in that area in about 17 years. My brother has been there within the past 5 years and the cement peir is where he fished.

For those that fish for perch out of Leamington - Do you have any problem buying bait over there or do you take your own from the states?
Is there a local tackle shop you can recommend.
Thanks !

I usually fish out of Colchester, not Leamington, but strongly recommend Strictly Fishing in Windsor as a bait shop. They're right next to bridge (on Sandwich St. just downstream from the bridge), open early, have great minnows, and provide accurate and up-to-date fishing reports.

Ditto what Homer says.
You are not allowed to bring bait across the bridge. I don't know of a bait shop in Leamington. We always stop in Windsor at the bait shop and also make the mandatory Tim Horton's stop. Going again in the morning.

Idylmoments, now that you've got my attention, what size are you talking when you say they are getting bigger? I haven't been over to Leamington since I was a kid, could you tell me how to get to the launch site from the bridge? Thinking of heading over there on Sunday, let us know how you do on Thursday.
