You name it - a gator will swallow it
A 2004 study of alligator diets in three Central Florida lakes -- Apopka, Griffin and Woodruff -- found toys, golf balls, fishing lures, shotgun shells, a lighter, spark plugs and glass.
"Basically you can find anything in an alligator's stomach," said Lindsey Hord, a biologist with Florida's Alligator Management Program. "They just swallow stuff. They swallow whatever they encounter."
"They basically eat anything that's floating on top of the water," he said. "If they see something, they just think it's food. I call them a water buzzard."
