Hit a lake on my way to work this morning and hit six fish in 45 minutes with Senko watermelon w/red flake! This is the first time I caught anything on a Senko since you all told me to buy them last fall, I was getting frustrated but now I'm happy :D

Senko watermelon w/red flake

208...one of my favorite Yamamoto colors:D You can really do some damage with a senko this time of year if you choose. Lots of fish shallow. I think there are better ways if you can see 'em, but if you can't it's hard to beat fan casting a senco. Depending on your timing you'll have males up shallow getting ready to make beds or already gaurding beds...either way a senco will catch'em. Once post-spawn is here on into the summer you'll be able to fish your senco on deeper breaks, along deeper cover, as well as docks...

i noticed my local meijers now carries them, dicks sporting goods, cabelas, walmart carries them under his brothers name but i cant remember it, etc.

i remember when i was first looking for them i had a hard time also, i passed them by without thinking they were it. i dont think it actually says senkos anywhere on the bag. you will notice gary yamamoto though. just look through all of the plastics. go for a watermelon or pumkinseed both with some kind of flake color first. when you fish them take your time.

have fun:D

The Kinami Flash is the same bait and can be found at Walmart. Dicks, Gander Mountain, Cabelas, Bass Pro, and most of your decent bait shops all carry them.

Just about every plastics manufacture makes a "senco" type bait...they're everywhere. Gander has Yamamoto's and Kinami's and "copycats" from Northlands, Yum, Guide Series, Snack Daddy, I'm sure I'm forgeting one. Gulp and Zoom have baits very similar too...

The deal with Kinami is they are the same as Yamamoto with 7 in the package instead of 10. They came out to be the same price per piece last year. Not sure about this year...Gander raised the price to $6.99 a bag for Yamamoto's. If Kinami stayed the same price it might be worth getting them, just not as many color options.

Waterfoul convinced me last year or the year before. I'd fished Wabasis for years and seen some fairly large bucket mouths but never caught one. He had me set up for senkos and I started catching them. I now have a colorful assortmant in my tackle bag at all times.:D

Last summer was my first year trying these gifts from the heavens. I have one on at least one pole at all times. Keep your old broken ones for dropshotting as well. STill have to try wacky rigging one, just haven't bought the tool for the o-rings yet. That will be this summers project.

Senkos are the best bass lure I have ever used. I have caught my top 5 bass on senkos. And also my biggest largemouth and smallmouth on senkos. Watermelon with red flake has been killer this year. Caught a 20incher the other day on it.

Bear in mind that the vendor (be that Gander or who ever) does NOT set the price on Yamamoto baits. Yamamoto Custom Baits sets the price and the retailers are not allowed to sell them for less than that price. They can't even put them on sale without permission from YCB. They can sell old stock cheaper sure... but proprietary pricing is what makes them cost what they cost.

Senkos have been killer for me since I first tried them last year. The watermelon/red is my most consistent producer. They're a little pricey, but worth it, IMO. If they ever go on sale, I'm stocking up.

Do you guys prefer to texas rig or wacky rig them?

2 of my friends made me believe too!!! I though Senkos were the dumbest looking things ever and my friends were hooking them right through the middle and slow fishing them. The pulled in one bass after another, both Large and Smallmouth and I couldn't believe it. The natural color or white were the 2 best that I've seen them use but I think they pretty much all work.

I prefer wacky. If I feel the need texas rig them I grab a swimsenko instead.

Also, not sure about all the locations, but MC Sports on 28th street (across from Woodland Mall) has Yamamotos on sale! Buy 3 bags get one free. It's about the only time you will ever see Senkos on sale.

If I use a Senco it's almost always wacky-rigged, but dead-sticking can also prove effective. This is done by rigging a worm hook weadless without a weight. Fished on slack-line the bait will acually fall backwards allowing you to get back into cover that you really can't get too with other baits. I'm guessing this is what a lot of people here are doing and calling "Texas-rigged". Can be a great technique...

You are right wolverines. That is one of the reasons I fish them on a 1/0 EWG hook... I can wacky rig it all day while till being able to "deadstick" or "texas rig" it in a pinch.
