Flip Flops are a great source for foam, they are cheap and come in a wide variety of colors. They make great bugs for bluegills.

Very nice - tried to buy a pair a couple weeks ago - my future wife laughed and would not let me get them when I told her they were for flies!

LOL! What a great idea. Never thought about using flip flops. Thanks for the tip! :)

those look like some 'gill getters to me.
....as long as the "seasoning" in that foam doesn't send them to cover...:D
or maybe it will send them belly up :D:D:evil:

I figured the least I could do to cut down on water pollution was to buy new flops. Found them at a dollar store for a buck a pair. I think a pair of flips will tie at least a couple hundred bugs.
While at the dollar store, I also picked up one of those foam wraps you slip over a beer/pop can. That foam is alot softer than the flip flop foam. Haven't tried can cover foam yet.

You need to go get all your fishing equipment, any upgrades and LOTS of tying materials NOW, I don't think you'll get to do that after you say "I do". ;)

Good Day,
Indeed a good source material.
Some people will even buy a few different colors and then glue them together with Supper 77 then pile a few books on top till dried. Then using a sharpened copper or brass tube cut cylanders out of the foam sandwich for poppers. You can even mix the colors.

One thing I will say is the flip flop bugs are very durable. I've caught over 200 gills and bass on the same bug, and it's still going strong.
