are you going to fish for the opener? The NBAA on Hardy is usually a good one but I can't make it this year. My tournament season will start with the BBT Memorial Open on Muskegon Lk.

just a half tank of gas.... if i can drive to work, i can drive to fish :) if i drive 131 to 10 to ludington, for some reason i get great gas mileage anyway.
i bet a ton of guys still run, plenty of guys did it when gas was 3$ a gallon.. so now its just another 80$ to try for a big payout.

I'm sure there will be close to the usual amount of boats leaving Muskegon (weather permiting)...But all the way to Pentwater? Mid-grade will pry be about $4.15-$4.20/gal by Memorial Day, and besides there wasn't a lot of boats making that run when gas wasn't an issue. I would guess (and it's only a guess) that 3-5 boats make that run out of 80-100.

I won't be fishing untill Monday on Muskegon Lake. Untill then I'm going to do my best to sore mouth as many smallies as I can in Arcadia. Lets see them try that again this year.

Looks like I'm going to get to fish Sat. on Hardy for the opener after all. Always a fun tournament to get the year started.
For the guys fishing Croton...What kind of winning weights do you get in that tournament?

Well, I sore mouthed a 5+ pound smallie today with a Red Eye shad that got off at the boat as I tried to lip land it (I broke the net the day before making it useless!!)... I also landed two largemouth in the 4 lb range... my buddy sore mouthed a 4 lb 14 ounce smallie on a tube... and we both landed countless 2-3 pounders ALL DAY today!!! We even got a steelhead of all things!!!!! Pics to follow.
Oh, and if Lake Michigan is anything like it was today you have nothing to worry about!! 6-8' would be my guess. :xzicon_sm
So we did our best to help your cause! :D

Hey Mike thanks for the help. I'm heading up Teusday morning. I might hit Pentwater on the way up. Nice photos on the other thread.

Bass were bedding on Pentwater in some of the backbays (especially the small one on the southwest side...).
We found some bedding activity on Arcadia also.

Skipped it last year. I do know that in years past a SINGLE fish has taken first AND big fish. My buddy Ed took it all one year with a 5+ lb smallie. That lake can be tough!!!
For what it's worth... there are almost NO smallie beds on either pond. I believe they are done. Just fine with me!!

So what won it on Croton Sat.? Heard it was tough.
Over 21#s won on Hardy. We had 15 1/2 and didn't even get a check...needed almost 17 to get in the money.
For what it's worth...almost all the fish that were weighed were off-beds;)

17.8 lbs I believe was the top bag on Croton Saturday. All those fish were taken from beds also.
Well, at least the bed fishing should be done by the time we hit Hardy next Saturday.

I was at the weigh in on Hardy nice smallies.
I would say bed fishing will indeed will be done and in general fishing will be tough.

Yeah, I'm wishful thinking at this point. I hate bed fishing events.

I hate bed fishing events to.
Water temps went up 5 degrees just this past weekend from the low sixties to 66-67 degrees.
If they are on beds I bet they are large mouth.
Saw some boats catching bass on senkos in the shallows of some of the coves. Not huge fish but more like kicker fish.
