Has anyone had any experience buying a motor in Canada at Canadian Dollar prices, with no duty bringing it into Michigan? It appears some models warranties are not valid in the States, but some are???

Have a 1992 140 V-4 and am drooling over a four-stroke.

geezer, If you buy there remember to apply for your taxes back too.
you'll get the motor for the list price, minus exchange, duty, AND tax. Not a bad deal.

This spring I bought a Honda four stroke in Canada. The warranty is not good for US but I can drive over and have repairs done without much trouble. I saved alot on the model and there was no duty and no taxes involved because it was for export. No one at the border blinked an eye other than the compliment I got from the guy on crossing.
Honda warranty no good in US but I think Nissan and Yamaha are good in US as the salesmen told me. I didn't bother with Merc or any other model cause I really wanted the Honda.

A buddy of mine picked up a 50HP Merc. tiller steer in Sault St. Marie Ont. ended up costing him about $1.200.00 less than he could have gotten it here. That engine was new in the box, but a 2 yr old model. He did get the GST etc. back at the border too.
