Has anyone fished Thornapple Lake recently for Walleye or Muskies? Just curious what the action is like before I head over there.

I have been over there for three days and only saw couple of boats on the lake. Bass are on the beds and bluegill are in the channels on beds. It will get muddied up this week with all the rain. Didn't see any Musky fishermen along the shorelines. Interesting about Walleye. There are Walleye there but I ahven't seen a lot caught in last three years. I have got couple and heard of others catching one but never two. Seen a lot of guys trolling but they enver hae anything. So I really don't know how this thing about Walleye at Thornapple got started. I have fished this lake for 17 years and know it like back of my hand. I have probably the largest bass ever taken out of there. 24 inches and over 5 pounds. Have caught few Musky but only one keeper. So good luck if you go.

That's not the kind of reply I wanted to see....was going up there thursday or friday. I might as well just fish Gun Lake.

We fish it every year on the opener of Musky/Pike season. This year we boated one 34" musky and lost a 40 something at the boat. Always get hooks into at least one that weekend. I'm planing to get back there in a week or so. I haven't tried for walleye there yet but a friend of a friend caught a 22" walleye last weekend. Give it a shot, its a nice lake to fish. Good luck and post how you do.

We fish it once or twice a year and haven't pulled a walleye out of there in the last couple years. Use to always get at least a few. Caught 9 one day years back, they were mostly throwbacks though.

Thornapple is definitely one of the best lakes in the state for muskies, but of course its tough to predict them or count on them showing up, ever. But if you want to catch a muskie that is just about as good of a place as any! Especially close to you anyway
