New Ohio state record flathead catfish!!

Interesting story out of NE Ohio. A man was fishing a bass tournament and caught a 57+ lb. flathead catfish on a jerk bait and 10lb. test.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. That 12# channel I caught last summer on spinnerbait had me beliveing I had a new MI State Record bass for a good 5-10 minutes...right until I got my light on 'em and sawthose reflecitve eyes. :dizzy:

Flatheads, especially, are top-of-the-line predators, & they inhabit many waters in numbers, yet comparitively few are caught while casting artificials. This may suggest, among other things, mudacts are a wee bit smarter than the average fish a swimmin'! ;)

Buy still, 57#?! WOW! I'd setttle for a 30#!

Mike - Last Fall We got a few in the Saginaw while jigging for 'Eyeballs - My biggest was just over 22lbs. :yikes:! When Ya come over on Your Smallie trip, I'm sure I can put Ya a "Big Un" - I know where they live :lol::lol: C-man
