So after a slow morning 2-4 I figured I would switch brands of corn and some rigs around and see what happens..
We got to the same hole as this morning and got stuff set up. (we being my wife to be and me)
We remembered the most important thing as well, what you may as is that. The food for the ducks.
Ok so anyway back to the fish stories, around a half hour in to our fish the frag pulled and i being a complete moron yank like all holy on the rod to find out the drag was loose and i have a huge mess. I doing my best sailfish co captian acting job wrap the line around my sweatshirt and have Jenn undo the spool and clean up the mess I had made. Once she is done with the mess the spool goes back on and drag set and the fight is on. 5 min later 5# carp is in the net and on the bank.
First fish came on corn on a baitholder hook size 4
2nd fish comes around a half hour later. The drag pulls and i set the hook the right way this time and hand the rod over to Jenn.h She does a great job on the rod untill the fish finds its way into the nasty dock pileings. After some playing I was about to break the line at the swivel knowing the hook will fall out within days. I figured I would leave the line slack and see if the fish could spit the hook. Low and behold the fish starts to swim out of the snag and back out of the bay. I AM NOT HAVING ANY OF THIS... second fish on the bank.
2nd fish came on a baitholder hook with corn size4
3 more fish come in the next couple hours all of which were on short hair rigs with a size 6 oct-p hook.
One of the fish was in the 10# range but no monsters.
Things learned today...
1. I need the okuma bait runner reels
2. Fish are starting to spawn
3. The big fish are on the other end of mac (lake end) a couple 20+ were caught in the chanel today jigging. No fish came from that end on corn.
4. Red hooks= BAD BAD BAD
Anyway I had the digi with me tonight and took some pictures.
Some how Jenn got one of me napping. I think it was photo shopped:)
