Do you basically use the same hunting tactics for the late season as the early season? Or do you have any late season tricks that you would like to share?

I will be hunting the late season this year. Any info gladly accepted!

Grasshopper...Find grasshopper. Great late season tactic, hunt feeding areas. Also don't be afraid to move up on birds a little closer. You have a lot more cover, making it easier to move in on them. If all else fails, I've crawled 200 yards though a field,(and fire ants) to within 35 yards of two long beards,feeding on hoppers. No I didn't get one, I got busted going for 25 yards..

Trout, I have two hens and a jake. I think I'll try the jake away from the two hens.

I tried something similar to what you want to do with the jake mounting the hen. I took a whitetail buck shoulder mount and put it on a birch tree in the middle of an open field. Then I took a 3D decoy doe and put the butt of the 3D up to the nose of the the shoulder mount. I got some fantastic reactions from both bucks and does.

Airoh, good idea on the deer decoys. I have a shoulder mount in progress at my taxidermist right now, and I'm gonna call him and ask him to put a smile on the buck's face. Next fall I'll try your set-up.
