We are going up May 15th thru 18th. This will be the first time we go up this early. We usualy kill the pike and largies when we go. Where were you guys catching the smallies? Never really got into too many of them on that lake.

I have caught them on the lake side of the dam along with largemouth. Ususally throw a carolina riged weedless worm but have also hit some topwater in the morning. Believe it or not I did well with a weedless worm below a bobber set at about 5 ft deep and the large mouth ate it up. Take a scum frog for the weed bed areas and hit them in the morning early and have some fun. I gotta figure how to get those pike in early June, I always seem to get bass though. Infrequently get pike. Guess they dont hit the bass worms. Maybe I need to try a spinner or spoon.

The pike there love white spinnerbaits. They will kill anything shiney. I've never really fished by the dam. Maybe this year we will try over there also.

it can get a little pricey, especially with all the sumberged logs and weeds, but i like throwing a 4-1/2 inch original floating rapala in both brown trout and shiner. I find that i catch more fish when i have an irradic retrieve with lots of jerks. if that fails, then like others said, spinnerbaits in white and chartruse work real nicely
