Went out by Gino's Friday night after work. Lake ended up being too rough to fish in our little boat. Headed into Beacon Cove to try for whatever we could catch. Ended up landing 20+ good size crappie. It was a blast. Never caught Crappie before and never thought we'd find Crappie in there.

Any one else know some good Crappie spots on the lake? I am hooked now.

If the Crappie are spawning now you can get them just about anywhere there is some structure.I used to do real good on them right off the seawall at the launch at Selfridge and up near Cotton Rd.and any of the canals they go in off the lake.I would use a pencil bobber with a minnow about 18" down and a small splitshot.

In my teens we used to rent an aluminum boat at one of the marina's near 9 Mile and Jefferson and motor down to the Ford Cove. We nailed the specs and silver bass in there! I wonder if anyone fishes in there anymore?

I used to fish there in the 80's in my tube(Ford's Cove). I did better on nice gills there than crappies. The weedbeds on the north side near the mouth produced best for me. Lots of silvers near the mouth and on the rocks off the north entrance then too.

Did well near the gas dock at the Beacon Cove too. Looks like crappie heaven. They chase you out once the boats are in the water, even had the CG called on us a couple of times:rolleyes::rolleyes:
