Is anyone interested in going on a winter caribou hunt. There are some openings for a hunt in northern Quebec. Cree indian land.
14-18 November ( I hear this is the best time slot.)
$903 USD for the hunt. two tags.
$250 USD for the provincial license. ( I think this is correct)
$50.00 USD to cross the border with a rifle. I don't know if they charge for a bow. Leave your pistols at home of course.
Out post camp. Includes- Heating, Fuel, Propane, Frig, and stove. Showers are not mentioned.

It is 1203 miles from my house in westland according to rand/mcnally. So for me a round trip Would cost about $800.00 USD. If fuel stays at or below $5.00 a gallon in Canada. It's $1.20/ liter last I heard. There are a little less than four liters in a gallon.

So for me it would be about $2,000.00 USD for the trip, not counting expenses like food, gear, ammo, etc.

P.M. if interested, Also any comments from people who have made the trip would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I was at Mirage in early November and here's the post I wrote about my experience:

That link from hunting.net is invaluable, especially for info about vehicles, the roads, and the brutal conditions.

The only thing I would add is that it's all about timing the migration, which varies from year to year due to weather and lakes freezing over allowing the animals to move southward. We were 1200 miles north of the Soo, so it sounds like you'll be south of where we were maybe? We hit the migration perfectly and that was in late November/early December. You might want to talk to others that have been in your area during the time you'll be there - just a heads up

Good luck with your trip and the hunt!

With all of the bad reviews that I have read about guides and outfitters, I would never even think about going on any kind of guided hunt. Too many scam artists and crooks out there for me. But good luck if you do go.

Well, thanks skipper34 I could always use some luck. But without some more hunters, there probably won't be a hunt.

Take care.
