Just a question from a newbie... What is your favorite inland lake for walleye fishing? Appreciate any and all responses. Thanks and best fishes! Not wanting all of your hot-spots, just wondering where you like to walleye fish.

Any lake that has them with weed beds in 10' of water that come up at least 3 feet. I prefer cabbage beds the thicker the better.

In that case, I'll throw out Houghton Lake. With the weeds somewhat under control the fishing was fantastic in the spring and 10 times better this july compared to last year when the weeds were out of control. Great structure and the eyes can be had in a variety (sp) of methods and baits.

The shack unit mentioned isn't being planted anymore & the pike are hungry....
The bigger one mentioned has been eluding my hooks , and the perch have all been running
small
So I guess you need to come over here , jump into the S.S. SFW & show me how it's done!!
I sure can't seem to get them.....;)

I have to admit it has slowed way down on that water Robert but the 3 fish I yanked from there this year where all better than 27" biggest being a nice 291/2" . Those green, slimy, toothy dudes are there just to keep it interesting while you wait for that one bite from old marble eyes. Besides the other lake was really producing some nice eaters last month 15 to 24 inches. Best bite was 3am to 6am. Just been to busy to get back over there. With the trout streams heating up my attention seems to be drifting back to those incredible colors of a fall brown and brookie.:) One of these days when I have some time and can plan ahead some we should get together and give it a try. Unfortanetely this is my bussiness busy time of the year. I have very little time to fish and hunt from now to Christmas. ;) OK I take the first week of gun season off but that is a religous holiday in my family.:D

Muskegon lake, and its going to start to heat up as long as you like the night shift. Lake Michigan turned over earlier in the week and that will usually push a lot of fish out of the big lake into Muskegon lake.
Rapala husky jerks in the #14 size in either the gold and black or the clown colors are my favorite for chasing those walleye at night out there.
The fishing will be good at night now until ice up out there. It's time to take the downriggers off the boat and get the walleye gear back in there.

Good Luck and Good Fishing
