Anybody in the Shelby Twp or Marine City area carry Fin-s plastics?

I have a couple jigging questions.

1) how long of vertical strokes do most of you guys use?

2) do you let the jig hit the bottom every time or do you stop above the bottom?

3) does fin-s come in different colors and/or sizes? What seems to work the best?

It all depends on what they want as far as raising the jig. This year the slower the better. in fact it is more of a raise and fall. The key is making sure you dont drop your rod tip too fast. Just follow the jig back to the bottom. If you drop your rod too fast, you will get slack and miss the bite. If you drop it too slow you lose the action of the bait. I have only bee raising the jig 6-8 ibches at most. Most of the time its 4-6 inces. I let it hit bottom every time. If you feel anything different on the fall set the hook!( a tap,not feeling it hit bottom,or pressure when you begin to raise the rod) Hope this helps. Finn-s are hard to find around here. Gander, dicks, and dunhams on hall dont have them. I heard the gander in Port huron has them, so if you try up tere, stop in. There is many colors! The best seem to be rainbow trout, watermelon, shad for me but there is many. Go to lunker city's web site and you can order them if youde like!

Go to Angler's in St Clair,,,, they have all the colors

1) I usually jig up 8" or so,,,, keeps the bait "in their face" In my opinion, jigging up 2 or 3 feet is wasted motion

2) Always hit bottom!!!!!!

3) Yes, 80 something colors, 4" is best, sometimes you want to bite off the first 1/2 to 3/4" before putting on your jig.

4) My goto color is melon pepper.....

go here if ya want to see the melon pepper in action, along with my favorite jig, the one with the red eyes..... http://www.he-tv.com/archive.php scroll down to show #16, jigging for walleye #1 and #2 and you'll see how productive the Fin S is!!!!!

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. Its always fun to learn a new technique to spend more quality time on the river. Got my list of "needed" supplies for my next trip to the bait shop.

Plus the wife, myself and my sons can all go at the same time if we get this jigging down.
