Maumee Bay April 22nd report

A quick report before I start giving myself lead poisoning........The bite in the bay has been unbelievable, but ONLY till about 8:30 or so. After that they have been shutting down. Two hours and no fish from 9 to 11. Luckely we had or 4 man limit way before that. If your going out, get there EARLY!!!!

You must be right Jay cause it was slow out there this evening. I went solo and took 2 walters and 2 poopheads on your white blades. My first time blade fishing though so I was pretty happy. Only saw about 3-4 fish landed on the 20 boats around me from 5-7.

FYI I launched out of Lasalle and I would be hesitant to reccomend it to others. Nice people but the launch is kind of shabby and the water is a mess. Had a hard time keeping my prop out of the mud in several spots on the way out and the narrow little seawalls leading out to the lake would be pretty hairy in a good blow. Only thing I liked was the gated parking. Again not knocking the people there, but I think I'll be sticking with Bolles.

I'll be back out thursday afternoon with a couple of guys.

I think the channel is marked improperly. Coming back in we stuck close to the docks and stayed left of the 2 bouys that are supposed to mark the channel to cross to Lasalle, and we had much deeper water. I did that because my Navonics chart showed deeper water there, and it was deeper.

CaptainJ can I ask what you guys were getting them on? We usually troll but would like to break out the jig gear and try some blades. I have tried them a long time ago with out sucess but would like to figure them out.
