There seems to be a number of silvers in the river this spring. I picked this one up this evening jigging for eyes...

Had one for lunch upon arrival back home. Slap it on the grill. Man was that good.

Both taken with silver and some chartruse or yellow on them.

Had emeralds in their bellies.

Might give it another try Wedn.

Hey Mike,

are you going in the morning? I was thinking about going, went this morning for my first try --got 1 coho. Torn between going back out for those silvers or trying for walleye.

what to do  :)

Barring any rain, I should be at the Marine city ramp about 6:30 am.

You fish for silver. There only in the river a short time. Damn walleyes will be there all year...

Good job Mike! I've seen quite a few silvers taken over the years on 3 ways trolling downstream with small body baits too. Even caught a few handlining in that area. We used to run longlines off boards all the way down to the state park and caught fish. It's hit or miss, but for small boats it's comfortable fishing.

Good luck guys,
Harry

Yeah--been a few years since I fished the river for them, I lived in Marine City a while back, fished the river every year for the short time they were here and caught a lot of them-- browns, steelies and salmon, both chinnies and coho, then I moved to Lexington for a few years so I quit river fishing. Now I live in Lenox, so back to the river :dizzy:

so many things to do in the spring :) And to top it off, I have a new boat so I wanted to try jigging out of it since I went all out with new electric motor and such. Gave it a whirl for a little bit this morning, caught 1 walleye, but better yet, I got the hang of the new boat and jigging out of it, I have a co-pilot remote and that took a little getting used to, glad I did it.
