Brewed my first IPA this afternoon. My son's are coming back for a visit in May; the oldest likes IPAs.

I used amarillo and cascade hops, IBUs should be around 50-57. Plan to dry hop with an ounce od Columbus hops in the secondary.

Sounds interesting...and how is the wife's syrup project coming? Weather was awesome for sap yesterday, will be excellent today and tomorrow, too. Then, with the heat coming in, we'll probably be done, I think.

SWMBO bought a half dozen spiles (?) and buckets; sap was really flowing yesterday.

She’s not willing to share any sap for brewing it's all going to syrup. That’s OK I’m finished with my dark beers for the season and will be brewing wheats and Belgians, maple is not appropriate for those styles.

India Pale Ale- An Ale of British origin...Originially concocted when the Brits occupied India. The Ale itself contains more hops and alcohol than an average ale...Hops and Alcohol being the preservatives that allowed this ale to make a two month trip (obviously without refridgeration) on a ship from London to India.
