Looking good but we need one more to fill it out!?
Please respond, I've heard from Walleyin, but Sean and Kevlar are still out searching for J-shaped turds!!!

List your huting area and season please.

Me, and little me(12 year old son, missed 3 times last year at 9 plus inchers in seperate hunts from inside 20-25 yards!!!) will be hunting in the Roscommon area for April 28th-2nd season and his hunt is the last season hunt in May.

We also are planning a hunt in Ohio April 18-21 for just the youth hunt but I saw only MI turkeys are the rule!!!

I'm here, don't have internet usage at work. :(

Will be hunting Lapeer and Genesee Counties. Got a ZZ area private land permit.

Have been scouting the turkeys aready this season. Easter day we seen 12 jakes , 1 hen and 3 big toms. I thought that looked promising. Last year I took a very nice double bearded tom. One beard was 8" and the other was 10 inches. No bad for my first turkey.

I know I won't be able to top that bird for awhile.

Here's a pic of it:

I'm stuck in Pittsburgh today and have another work trip before I can get out for the 234.

Got us on the points board. 4" beard, 3/8" spurs. Good for 20 points. Was holding out for a bigger Tom but decided it was a fun enjoyable hunt so I shot a jake. Had 10 jackes come within 10 yds. Got to clean the bird and I will get the photo's on later tonight.

Got good photo's of everything I need for an entry. Fun Hunt today.. :D

At 6:40 am gobbler came in about 50 yards and would not come any closer. At 7:30 am 2 hens came in and a jake could have took the jake, but I know there are bigger ones there. Maybe tomorrow I will score.:D

Last day today, took a 2 year old, 8 inch and 3/4 spurs 18 pounds. Had a good week, hunting 3 specific big boys, but they were call shy, henned up and decoy shy--just depended on the day and area. Tough smart birds..learned alot. Tried to post pics but something is wrong with my upload--not enough space!?!? Todays hunt is great, tough birds to call in off a private location but all I did was use my gobble call and a couple hens in between and basically called in the hens whcih by the time I shot at 18 yards, I had a hen 5 FEET from me and another about 10, yes, that close! had to hold the gun in a very uncomfortable position for approx. 25-35 minutes. Had two full strut decoys, hen, and a jake out. Usually the big ones woudl stay together but the smaller one was what came to me following hens, the big boy was about 100 yards away with another hen or two, never saw him just heard him. Pic coming soon!

Spent today assisting with a Search & Rescue Canine training day out in Holly. Dogs were so well trained they walked right past a hen's nest with eggs. No camera with me...but it was good to see signs that another brood is on the way.

If you ever need a REAL workout.....try keeping up with a bloodhound on a scent trail :yikes:

almost forgot........3 morels !!

The turkey's got really shy where I was hunting. Had some nice longbeards struting and gobbling but just could not close the gap on them, they also where henned up, got juked:rant: But all in all it was a great to be out in the woods. Good luck to the rest of you, its time to pick some morals and catch some walleyes.

The pic I took of the spur which had the tag pic on it, was somehow not taken(recorded on camera?) or was deleted by one of my kids/wife on the camera...its not like I took the pic and ran onto MS to post it. The bird was disposed off that day after I cleaned it, I always do, turks stink to high even even after a day in the trash!!

Not a big deal to me...this is the exact reason why I hesitated to join, when there are guys so anal that we make rules for the small minority that would raise the big deal if their team didn't win because they woudl question it wasn't a Michigan bird or that spurs was 13/16 and not 15/16...or guys so anal to get recognition via a nonMichigan bird to win a fun contest. Just a reminder to me to stay away from contests like this, when its fun and you have to take two pics in order to appease the internet judges that your telling the truth!?! It was an 8 inch beard bird not a world record!!

Thanks to Michael Wagner who put me in the right spot....with the right calling...we had birds around us almost all day. Aggressive double-calling was the ticket to bring the birds in.

Early in the day two longbeards followed a few hens past us. I tried to thread the needle on one and only managed to scare them into the next county. None of the others humored me with another opportunity.

Most generous Mike - Thanks for a great day in the woods !
