Boy am I sure glad every person I called to go out tonight declined the offer. I have on word for tonights non fishing report, WET. I managed to make it up to the discharge, It did not seem that bad going up at all. Todays tip of the day!! When going with the wind, you cannot see whitecaps . There definatly was a reason when I headed out I only seen a couple boats up there. Rolling steady 2-3 footer's I decided that it is not going to be worth it to fish. Lets think about this for a minute; Yeah a transom mount trolling motor on speed 5, waves crashing into the splashwell, uhh no thanks. I decided to head back down by humbug where I swear did not seem as bad. This is where the fun begins. While attempting to motor down, every wave I hit crashed over the sides of the boat and proceeded to give me a bath all that way down the river, It was the longest mile of my entire life. The wind was howling, the water was freezing. I was going 17 mph straight into the wind and I swear my head was hanging out the window of a lear jet. My fish cooler actually blew out of the boat in the madness, I had to go back and get that. Then my beer spilled. I decided to wait until I got into the canal untilI opened the next one ,welp that one decided it would be fun to give me a bath as well . I was to the point I might as well just end it all and jump in the canal, I could not get any wetter. I was like a wet dog, freezing my gonads off. All because I decided I would be cool and just wear a t-shirt out. Shoot Im fat and its like 70 out. I'll bring a sweatshirt just in case...Needless to say after blowing to the back of the boat that was a little on the dripping wet side.

My buddy caught a sturgeon saturday. The first time we put it in last year, we caught 5 hogs. It had been a lucky charm up until this day, but yesterday mother nature decided to be a little on the cranky side. I have no idea what I did to her, maybe she was laughing cause she was looking down at me in my t shirt saying, "I am so going to ruin this fellas day"..... So after I gained my composure I ended the night drinking beer canal cruising in my lund. It sure was a nice day and I was NOT going to waste it!

One other thing. I am going to quote a line fishmaster said to me on saturday after catching the biggest fish of his life.." The blue heron is a true memory maker". I agreed and said " Yes, the Blue Heron indeed makes memories one day at a time" Yesterday's excursion is now just another memory to add to the collection. I just wish someone else was there to see the whole ordeal unfold, it was truly a sight to see.

Till next time......

I remember days like that in early spring fishing out of my 15 ft all-welded Crestliner John boat.......best boat to jig out of, almost died in it several times.......famous quote from that boat "Hey, can you pass me one of those life jackets", Fishing Partner: " Why, are we in trouble"......."No, No, Just put it on"....:lol::yikes: West Wind Whipping up the Detroit River, in 40 deg. water, not too safe....

Well let me explain one thing. I was not in danger of my life at all. I have a 17 ft blue fin with dual consoles. Its a pretty decent sized boat. I seen guys out there, I am not quite sure how they got out, in 12 ft boats last night. I just learned 1 thing....its gonna be a wet ride this summer:D

Any one wanne go fishin? Ahh just wear your swim trunks

Andy,
I had planned to go yesterday as well, but decided not to based on the weather projection, looks like I made the right call, getting wet would have been bad, but spilling your beer and having to wait to open another - that is terrible!!!:dizzy:

The River was rolling pretty good in front of Elizabeth Park when Kelly, Cam and I went for a walk.

I had saw you guys in the garage when we stopped by Kelly's friends house down the street. How did the project go?

We did not do a project. Denny had just got home from work and I was just basically telling him my ordeal while waiting for lance to go canal crusin.
