Looking for managable ice. Any suggestions on where to go ? ( be nice now:16suspect) Thinking Fair Haven, maybe Harsen's. SANG's not out of the picture yet either. Or possibly further north and a short walk from the car as yellowbelly has suggested of my behavior in the past. How about some thoughts here. One more time.;)

Drove by Fairhaven this morning... 20 or so people out there... looks like they had to walk on the rocks at the launch to get out. They were straight out and also to the left.. Saw few out of the resturant(has good size parking lot) that is between the Fairhaven boat ramp and Jiggers.
....
Stopped at cotton rd, saw 2 straight out..
....
Stopped at Selfridge, no one out. If you go there, go off the wall, ice at the ramp is toast...
....
Good luck..I am done for the year..

What about the Venetian or the canal behind Selfridge bait and tackle? Might have to hop down from the end of the docks though.

Venetian ice was still good Mon when I fished there (have to get away from the culvert though:rolleyes:). Plenty of fish, though a lot of sorting.

Haven't been to the Selfridge canal since last Thurs or Fri but managed 6 nice gills and a few throw backs in 2 hrs.

Good luck Joe and let us know where you end up and how you did. I'll probably try one or the other of these spots this weekend or take my casting rod to the end of SRR.

I see tons of guys fishing between Yates and Ryan road.....is it even worth trying to steelie fish before the river gets up to 40 degrees?? Is there that much of a steelhead run in the clinton river??

Hit and miss. Not like the west side of the state. Best to watch the Southeast Rivers and streams forums for updates.

Joeker51,
Fair Haven is the place! Morning low to be 21 degrees. Hope you see this before heading out. Fishing is good & the ice is as well.... just go out where others have (safe areas). Ice is still about 9-10" once you're on. I'll be off the ice by 1pm, when it starts getting soft again. Last time out for me.... 20-25 more keepers! :D Bud's resturant is close to the car, 2-3' of water, they're getting perch with some sorting & is a good bet. Try it you'll be glad you did!

Took a drive with my wife up as far as Algonac today. Ice comong down pretty good. Bank to Bank ice near the island. Open on the canadian side across the Algonac launch.
Had dinner/lunch as the bayside restraunt. Watched about 10-15 people on the ice. Never saw a arm raised the whole time. Talked to a guy heading out that was dentally challenged. Said some guy caught a 21 inch perch last week?
I told him I doubted it. State record is 21 inches! He said it was 23" (record). Neverless, It looked cold, windy and slow! I was glad to be sucking down a bud and watching from the resturaunt. Cant wait till this ice is done. Soft water wishes...

Joe, the market was way slow, no Kroger just Glens and they only had fish-sticks:lol: all you missed in the great white north was about 20" of ice, fished all day had the lake to ourselves, and got 12 nice ones went back this morning and got 4 more. Yesterday was "BEAUTIFUL" 8 degrees to start out but in the upper 30`s bright and sunny, my face is red as this smile:evil: I might go back up next wk.end, (Mr. mcanes???) I hate to let it go, this has been my best season ever. my wife was home with her medicine:hide: so all I had came in a can. Mike
