Fished 8am-2pm, 1.5 miles out from the raft bar & grill in 5.5'-6' of water.
Water clear in early morning & way to many pike!:yikes: Moved a few times.

Then it clouds up slightly as it often does & a few perch start to show up.
Had one good spirt on minnows for 3/4 of my fish (8 1/4 -10 1/4"). See gallery.

Back at it Friday or Saturday! :D

Joeker51 -we'll be out there in 2-3 fish traps & (here's how to find us) 1 green otter shanty (not many of those around). If you're out there (1.5 miles out from the Raft, on the left side of the island as you're going out) come by & say hi, always nice to meet new fishing people. You'll see a group of people in that location, not hard to find. Hope to see you out there! :)

Thanks for the post. I took your previous "advise" and did the Raft Wednesday also.

Fished just off the canals early in the morning and caught 5 perch, water real dirty.

Walked out to the pack (or is a group of fisherman a school?) and brought home 25 more perch. Caught a fair amount of dinks, but probably less than 20. Minnows seemed to work. I heard they were catching them in front of Bud's also. Big group of people out there.

Thanks for the posting PerchOnly, glad to here you got into some fish.
Some mornings have been better than others but you can usually get between 20 & 40 keepers by noon or so.
I'll be giving it another shot on Friday & or Saturday. :D

Fished the same area Wednesday and I recall seeing the green shanty nearby. Found the fishing very slow until about 2:30 when they really turned on. Two of us kept 48 and probably released twice that number. The perch wanted minnows and very few were caught on anything else. The ice was a good 10" thick and hard except for the top 2". Near shore ice is very bad. We accessed over shallow water wearing waders so breaking through was not a problem. The good ice was within 10 yards of shore. Expect to be back Friday, weather permitting. Thanks St. Clair Ice Fisher for the great tip.

Glad you got into them Woodduck & you're very welcome for the tip. After the winter catches most of us have had we owe it to the perch to take as many as we can. Wouldn't want them to become stunted from over population.   Good luck on Friday if you make it out & fill that freezer. Good point don't forget the waders.... the machines have done in the launch sites
