Looking at this from Saturday, I'd say people had better stay the heck off of northern LSC :yikes: (except if they're in a boat that is:evilsmile).

Naw, if i was still in Detroit, i would be getting in as much fishing at Ginos or SANG as i could right now, just have the watch the winds, there is still probably 8+ inches of ice in those areas...

Those satellite images are very deceiving,,,, at Gino's yesterday, there was ice as far as the eye could see. Now,, on the otherhand,, the last week or so at SSR it was open water as far as the eye could see.:dizzy:

Yeah but the lake is open...i.e. can you say "ice floe"? Doesn't do you much good to have 8" of ice if you can't get back to shore without the help of the USGC.

Which is why you watch the wind forcasts, LSC is only completely ice covered maybe a month on a normal year, if that, you usually always have to watch the winds on the big lake, on the American side at least.

Which is often incorrect.... Anything over 12mph has the capability of pushing that burg out....I don't think I've ever seen the ice melt on that lake....Maybe a couple times by the raft and a couple by SANG...
After the crap we fished in on simcoe today, I think I'm ready to put the shantys away....
Which doesnt mean I wont go sit on a bucket sat for a couple hours
Anybody know how to blow that pic up? The currents are real easy to pick out.... Might come in handy some day.

Saginaw Bay is a part of Lake Huron, between the thumb and the mit.

If you up on the right side of lower Lake Huron on the Canadian side you can see a couple of open areas there.2 boats from Purdys Commercial fishery got stuck in the ice trying to pull up nets and had to be cut lose by the Canadian Ice Cutter. You can imagine how much/many nets are set up out there even though the area from the satelite pics looks small its very large area.
