With all the spoon talk that goes on here, how come no one ever mentions the moonshine glow spoons? Seems to me they grow longer and brighter than Cleos or Wobblers. I do most of my fishing in the dark, since that is when the wife is sleeping. Do you seasoned veterans not like em?

This is my opinion and i think their a bit light, i like to really whip em out there and these just dont seem to have that good casting ability. They do glow nice tho. I think they are geared more towards trolling.
Thats just my .02 cents.

The two new walleye sized moonshines are heavier than the trolling spoons. Don't know how they would work on the piers but they were the best spoons we used jigging through the ice this year.

I use the 1 oz.
I agree that their glow lasts longer...but I've never had any success with them in the fall. I've used the Bloody Nose, Dancing Anchovy and the Mongolian Beef with no hits on them...ever. The Agent Orange has worked well for me in the spring however. I caught a beautiful 12 lb. brown last year on my first cast with that spoon.

They work. I lost a few last fall casting for Kings at night due to operator error. I had just as many hits on the bloody nose as with my trusty 3/4oz KO Green/Glo. As for Steel, I would imagine the 'agent orange' would turn the skams on at the Joe.

Moonshine has three different types of casting spoons now.
They have a 3/4 oz version that is much like the KO Wobbler.
And they have a 5/8 oz and a 1 oz that are similar to the daredevels.
All with the infamous moonshine glow paint.

The 3/4 oz spoons are the ones I have had the best luck with. I've used the longer daredevil style spoons with no success. I hear you have to let them sink and use a different type of retrieval, but I have had no luck with this.

I can't wait to troll those piers with the small ones. That bloodynose is a walleye slayer.

Jason, stop by your nearest dairy farm and get glob of Bag Balm. That'll fix that rash. Or you can just GET OFF THE COUCH AND GO FISHING!!!!!!!!!:p

I'm paying an arm and leg ordering them online. I found a few at G.Mountain, but the selection was worked over pretty well and not much was left.
The Moonshine 3/4 oz spoons are currently 4.99 a piece where i get'em. The wolverine made casting spoons that are identical to the moonshine spoons with slightly different color combos are going for 3.99.

I think the moonshine casting spoons plain out SUCK....
They have only had one good casting spoon and that was the first generation one they made a few years ago (hard to find) It is green glow on one side and orange on another with a HUGE eye. If you can find it buy it up because I seem to not be able to find it anymore.
The 3/4 oz ko style.... are just 2 small. I use them for steel in the spring and fall. And once and a great while if im bored for kings.
The Daredevil type just dont do much for me..... I have 2 boxes of them that never leave the house.
The 1 oz 2nd year casting spoons have a time and place. Mostly bloody nose and Agent orange.
That all being said I hope Moonshine gets the hint and gets some better blanks to start working with.

The yeck casting spoon comes in a 3/4 ounce wobbler and also a 1/2 0z cleo. They are available in many different colors including glow and silver plated. Many of the casting spoons are plated with nickle which turns black under water. The glow spoons have a white back on them which helps the glow spoons stand out more in dirty water like the piers anglers are casting off of. They are also about 100 cheaper than the competitors. They are very well and are almost comparable to the bright on the market. they can be made brighter but would coast more to the angler. Yeck can be contacted at 231-843-7862. or they are available in many local stores in your area

I have some yeck.. they are not bad spoons at all. They would be better if they came with a split ring on it. The casting spoon is to thick most snaps.

I have used the moonshine spoons for casting and have had great luck with them.I use a drop down sinker 1/2 oz and tie the spoon 1ft above the sinker with 3ft leader.I have caught steelies, kings and browns this way.Im fishing a river with heavy current.

I bought two last year to see what the hype was, and they never hooked up, I tried them off the piers in Oscoda and Manistee. I hooked all my pier kings last year on Cleo's, that's my favorite pier spoon. I did get a "couple" one morning on alewives too.

All the kings, coho, and browns off the pier last year came on cleos in Blue/silver, green silver, blue/glow, green/glow, and orange/glow all in the 2/3 oz size. I also have gotten a couple kings and a laker on the green/glow 1/2 oz. K.O. wobbler. The pearl Krocodile has produced a couple browns as well, however I don't like Krocodile spoons very much.

I tried the Yeck casting spoons last fall and they worked great for me! The 3/4 oz and the 1/2 oz wonder bread, blue glow, and orange glow were good to me. Tried to post a link but it looks like the Yeck site is down.

Stein... did you use a snap right to the lure or did you put O rings on them?

Dave, I used a wire snap and a very small ball bearing swivel a couple feet above. The spoons are thick, but a round bend snap worked fine without any problems, those tapered snaps will not work. I also put a bead above the swivel to stop my reeling progress from jamming the bearing in my rod tip on those long slow retrieves with the rod tip low to the water. I will start doing that this spring casting for eyes, it worked well.;) I am also thinking about adding a small spinner blade above that to cause a little commotion.

Dave, here's a little trick for ya. If you're using Bearing swivels with coast lock snaps, cut the snaps off and replace them with duolock snaps. Duolocks work great even with my big thick Pixee spoons. IMO, if the casting spoon didn't come with a front ring, don't put one on!
