Well, I didn't get out there today was busy with the kids. My fishing partner did and low and behold there is still some fishable ice. The edges are getting dicey, however there is a good 4"-6" of ice and there were a few groups out fishing and catching perch. He ended up catching rounghly 90 or so fish and kept 38 he said, from 7 inches up to 11 inches. Apparently some youngsters that were out there had found a hot spot and had half a bucket full of slobs. Sorry no fish porn fellas, he called me after he was already done cleaning fish. May get out there tomorrow, will depend on this weather. Hope this report helps.
Tight lines and Happy Easter

Can anyone describe a slip bobber rig for me? Or perhaps a pic? Really appreciate it. Looks like I'll have to get my cousin to bring the boat and trailer over to my house so we can stick the motor back on it.

saturday is the day. Right now the forcast looks great with a west wind. I'm sure that forcast will change 16 times in the next 7 days but i can pray!

Jim,
There's a pic of the slip bobber gear in the post (I'll try to paste here), That shows the bobbers with line holes running through the center of the bobber, the small colored line in the pic is threaded on the fishing line first, up towards the first guide. Then, place a colored bead that has a hole in it on the line so it will stop at the colored line (which is wound around the fishing line then tightened so it won't move unless you push it up or down the line). Place your slip bobber on the line, then tie on a barrel or snap swivel so the bobber doesn't come off the end of the line, and add a snelled hook or whatever you want to use as bait. The small colored line can then be easily slid up or down the fishing line to set the depth the bobber will let the bait sink to. The colored line stops in the picture are pre-tied and can be bought in packages at sporting goods stores.
Oops, tried to paste and couldn't. Look at SabikiRig's post.

That ice isn't going anywhere real soon..... we were out there today in that strong N/NE wind and we didn't float anywhere. Warm weather is what we need,, the ice is basically mush,, you could almost "push" your auger through. Lots of ice floes in the river,, a lil' scary getting across,, not quite as scary as the 8" of snow covering the rocks and the plank we had to cross to get to the ice:yikes:.

My budy said there is way over a foot on the north side. He said auger deep to get through. They did better over there than the south side.

The guys that were on the N side came over and started fishing on the S side today,, fished for a while then went back......... We did ok,,,, coulda took a limit easy,, if we were keeping 8"ers. 8.5" was the smallest I measured in my bucket and I only had 3 of those.

I made a beer batter and fried them, yum yum. The bigger fish got filleted and the smaller fish got scaled and skin stayed. Have a hard time filleting fish sometimes...especially perch. Trying to get better, just need to keep catching alot of fish!:D
