I have a small aluminum boat and have a cabin on a lake and was wondering if there is a better way to launch the boat from shore? Dock space is limited and my boat usually gets beached. I've seen on fishing shows from the far north these alumimun grids that lay in the beach and are used to dock and launch from. Anybody have any idea what they are? Where can I get more info? Thanks!

Chain link fence rolled out to the water works good

Thanks for the suggestions, but not exactly what I'm looking for. I seen a show yesterday on History channel called Monster Quest. These guys were fishing in Saskatewan and he was sitting in a 16 to 18 ft boat on shore, similar to the picture you sent Tad Pole. But I believe they could load the boat and slide into the water off this aluminum square stock grid laying on the beach! It didn't appear to have rollers or bunks. I've seen this before, usually on far north programs. The pvc is interesting!? I'm not sure what the fence would do Scout2. It seems your from my neck of the woods. My boat gets beached on Lake Missaukee!! You know how low the water was a year or two ago! Still needs to come up though. Someone needs to plug the lake leveler!!

These are like 12" X 12' Interlocking Steel Pads That the Military uses when they have to land airplanes in the mud. At least that is what I think they are desinged for. Alot of cemetaries use them to avoid turf damage with heavy equiptment and they use them in the desert to free sand bound vehicles. I will post a website.

Google Military Landing Mats
I saw a place called colemans that sold them. These are something you could use to back a car and trailer down the beach and into the water launch and pull out.
