During big water season, Fridays in the office before a trip to the big lake seem to take forever. Every Friday (sometimes Monday thru Friday...hehehe) before making the drive from the Detroit suburbs to Lake Michigan, I like to take a moment to put together what I call the "Starting Lineup". The "Starting Lineup" is what I'm going to run in my spread as soon as I set down Saturday morning, right down to the exact spoon, flasher/fly combo, or meat rig, and which rod I'm going to put it on. I use to just write it down on a piece of paper, but decided to put together a sheet that could be put away in a 3 ring binder to keep track of what worked and what didn't, ie my big water log. Putting something together like this is just another prep tool designed to save you a bit of time on the water. I'll usually either rig my rods before I go to bed on Friday night after I arrive at the hotel, or early in the morning before I leave for the launch. Saves a lot of time, especially with the amount of tackle some people have to look through to make a selection. Most folks can't wait to get out of town and are thinking about the trip long before the week is over, so why not take some time to develop a starting lineup.

Since most computers come standard with MS Office, anyone with a computer can easily manipulate this sheet in MS Powerpoint to look exactly like their spread........add planer boards, dipsys, riggers, etc. Spoon names, flasher/fly combos, and meat rigs can either be written in on the dotted lines, or typed in after creating a text box.
So here is a .jpg of the template, so you can see what it looks like. Obviously we all run different set ups, so if you would like the MS Powerpoint version to tweak and make it your own, drop me a PM and I'll email it to you. It's pretty easy to manipulate, just click on the lines, dipsy diver circles, planer board boxes etc., and you can move them, copy them to make more, or delete them. You can also click in the text boxes (ie 5 color)to change the wording. Hope this helps.

Great idea Wook. And you know that prepping for the next weekend usually happens as soon as the boat goes back on the trailer. :D
