I was just thinking (YA OMG) for those of us who will be making the majority of these tournaments, we should have a yearly side pot for big fish?
All the regular rules apply, just have to keep record of who caught the largest bass of the COTM tour's, Maybe $20 a head, with only an 1 time chance to enter, probably at the 1st one, would be best. then when the season is over at the last tour, the Money would be awarded to the winner, oh and he or she would have to be present at that last tour to win! What do you think about that???

sounds fair, but whoever has the big fish and is in the lead has to wear a pink bikini top during each tourney until he is dethroned or the season ends.
i would also stipulate you must fish 60% of the tournies to qualify... pay by the 2nd tourney... if you miss every one after that... you don't get a refund.
There are people who like to fish just 1 lake that will come to these tournies and while i don't mind people hand picking... i want to discourage those who would show once or twice just to try and win our money on their home lake - or at least offer enough incentive for them to come back a few times and donate like the rest of us ;).

Well I was thinking it would be for a season long 1 time payout for heaviest bass,
Going to be hard to stipulate 60% prticipation but, we could mandate that you must fish 3 tour's minimum, AND if big fish go's to an angler who fished less than the 3 tour's mandated, then the payout goes to 2 places 65/35.
If for some reason they can't make it to the remaining tournaments after entering the side pot at the 1st tournament, well..............thats the cost of playing the game.
NO REFUND'S. I would have to say pre entry only,
No angler is going fish a tournament, catch a big fish, and then want to enter the side pot and enter the fish they caught befor they entered.
The option of payin up no later than befor the start of the 2nd tournament could be given, but the angler must sign up befor the 1st tournament begins!
Sounds good to me, This idea is for the anglers who are participating on a regular basis a chance to collect a bonus, But ya never know, could be anyone of us on any cast on any day.
At $20 per entry (Per Angler, Not boat), at 20 ppl = $400 to the winner!
Should be enuff incentive to get us some more participation maybe?? HA!

Well, since I plan on hitting every one (or at least I'm going to try!) I would be up for keeping track of it all.

That's with MY money... I'm very good with other people's money. Just tonight I made the night deposit for West... largest one I've made yet. They trust me (West Marine) with a LOT more money than we're talking about here... so I think the Monday nighters can trust me.
Heck, I could even put it in a savings account and make a little interest for the winner!!

I know I'm not a regular, and it will be my first time fishing these tournies this year, but I would throw 20 bucks into it. I'm pretty sure me and stick'em are planning on hitting most all of the lakes, depending on how busy work is this year.

Be prepared boys, i'm about to drop some knowledge. Ready for the official ruling?
Ok then.
20$ per MAN. This is an individual and optional side pot.
You can enter at ANY TIME before the half-way point of our season. Without looking at the schedule, thats mid-july.
For a fish to be eligible, you must have paid At the ramp - before the tournament where the fish was caught or at an previous tournament. If you get an 8lber on the 1st tourney and didn't pay yet, TS.
To be eligible to win at the end of the year you have 2 options:
1. Fish at least 5 tournaments on any lakes (we have 12 Ts between jun-sep)
2. Fish at least 3 tournaments all on different lakes.
If you pay into the pot and do not make the requirements, you just donated 20$ ;)
1st Place: 75%
2nd Place: 25%
based off of 20 participants, thats 300$ for first and $100 for second.
Ties will be split 50/50, 33/33/33, 25/25/25/25.
I cant use 2nd big fish for tie-breaking since it will be on everyone's word on who caught the fish. (Say a guy tied for first and his partner catches a nice fish.. nothing stopping him but his partner from saying he caught it to beat the tie).
You get 1 entry. if you have 1st and 2nd big fish...you just get 1st.
The reason for some of these rules is from personal experience. I joined a small bass club a few years back with my partner about 2/3 through their season. Well.. we cleaned up for the last 5 or 6 tournies and took 1st or 2nd in all of them. Plus we had big fish for the year. The rules of entering the yearly big-fish race were not discussed w/ us or the rest of the group and we were just assumed "in" by the director. The regulars were a bit unhappy about it. So i'm setting these rules from the get go... that way everyone knows what they are getting into and i will expect no grief at the end of the season when it comes time to payout.

Yeah, I seem to remember a Big Whitefish tourney where PWOG got a limit of fish and then YOU culled every one of them out!!!

Why should he have to get even? You guys finished first that night if I remember right... money in my pocket makes it all A.O.K. if the other guy culls out all my fish!! LOL!!! Not that that has ever happened to me, but I'm sure it could/will at some point.

I'm telling you fellas... you don't stand a chance this year. Nunofya!!! I have some new equipment... and I've been picking KVD's brain (just talked to him today for about 15 minutes as a matter of fact... I think we'll be sharing recipes soon... those "lucky cookies" could be on my boat this summer!!). I also had a short discussion with Boyde Ducket... but the contents of that discussion will remain classified!!! Oh, and I'll have the same backseater every week... consistancy rules!!!
And if things work out I'll have more horsies on the back of the Tracker too... get there sooner... leave later... = more fishing time!!!

If just talking to the pro's was all it took, I would have won every tournament i even entered, I have had discussions with Gary Yamamoto, Dean Rojas, Gary Kline, and of course Bill Dance was there! Anglers Marine out in SoCal, they all visit that place! Now I know none of them are KVD, But I'd think combining the 4 of them would have done it!

Coming from Holland really puts a stretch on keeping myself qualified for big bass and what not.
Sounds as if your trying to discourage participation in the big bass contest with the pink bikini requirement. LOL :lol:
This may be a "game time" decision for me. To be a donator or not a donator isn't the concern. But to remove myself from a potential "winnings" by the second or third tourney from no fault of my own...in the area of participation. I do understand the concept and reasoning of the rulings set forth. Just something for me to ponder over.
