There are two of them out this year, the one I know is made by Silstar...not sure about the other.
Anyone in the market for a great inexspensive baitcaster needs to check out the new Daiwa Megaforce 100 TSHL:
http://www.daiwa.com/images/MF100TSHL.jpg
Awesome reel for $59.99. Twitch'in bar, secondary magnetic drag, very smooth, and my favorite...7.1:1 gear ratio. First one with that under $180 that I know of. I played around with it as much as you can in the back yard and am very impressed. I don't see where the twitch'in bar will be a big deal but I know that high speed gear ratio is going to be the ticket...
They're going fast...there was four, I picked up two, they sold the other one and the display in like two days...not sure if any more have come in yet, but I'd like to get one or two more myself...

Dick's off of 28th and I-96 in GR had Quantum Escalades for 50% off and then some... 60$ i total (reg price was 129 i think). its a store model for dicks so i don't know if they are worth anything, but they had 7.1 burners in there.

Ya those escalades are nice reel's, good bearing count nice magnetic backlash and a Burner (7.1-1 Gears) reel most can afford, I have a KV1000(BPS model) and a AV870(almost identical) both very similar models both sweet reels, so I assume the Escalades would be also! It looks to be the same reel as a Quantum BURST(2008model)only draw back is it and the Escalade and the AV870 dont have metal frame's, they do have a metal front support, and honestly I cant tell the difference aside from the AV870 is a tad lighter!

Gander East in GR had them for $49 & $59 . not sure what store you went to...........
I am NOT really a fan of magnetic brakes.
:D
I passed on the idea of the Daiwa MF B/C the 7:1 retrieve doesn't give much torque - PLUS I wonder about the reliability of the twitchin' bar and the durability of the high gear ratio....(MORE to go wrong IMO)... the Exceler does look like a decent reel however.
While many reviews were favorable , longevity will tell!
BPS Reviews:
good reel for the money, but not great., February 18, 2008
By HowardHawgHunter from South carolina (read all my reviews)
"This reel has some positives but it also has some negatives. The twitchin bar is cool and works well once you get used to it and the reel casts really far. My main problem with the reel is the NOISE!! Even after cleaning it and lubricating it, it still makes alot of noise when reeling it. I've only had the reel a month or so and hope it will stand up to tournament fishing. The price was really good but I think Daiwa could have made it a little better."
Cheap..but handle is too weak..., February 8, 2008

"Handle is very weak. If you wind the reel few times, handle will be bent..."

I was just there and "played" with both reels. The 10 bearing one seems like a decent reel for the money. If I needed a baitcaster right now I might even buy one... nice thing about Gander... don't like it... bring it back.

Wow, you really like that don't you...surprised you didn't end it with "LOL".
See, I thought I would be nice and confirm something for your friend...looked it up on the computer and it listed the supplier as Silstar so that's what I posted...so they make Pinnacle, whoopty-freak'en-do...I personaly wouldn't buy either. I've got an old GS baitcaster, first one they put out about 5 years ago or so, and I would bet money that it was made by Quantum...but the supplier wasn't listed as Zebco. It's hard to say for certain sometimes who makes each GS item, especially the rods...they don't tell us. You can only go by what the computer lists as the supplier...so I did that and at the same time get to be the butt of your little ongoing joke...so your welcome, enjoy:coolgleam

Mike & I are always going around on various things, I like Silstar reels and he has a few BPS branded Silstars he likes , but not anywhere as well as his precious Curados ( rightly so !!)
Shakespeare/Pfluger uses Silstar for many reels , so does Gander , Cabela's , BPS , Dicks , and a host of bazillions.
You can look up some of this information online if you're a savvy data hunter - or even care.....

I have noticed that sometimes the "typed word" loses some of it's meaning if not explained in great detail - and I have misunderstood some of wolverines' posts due to a lack of detail.
Not hammerin' on ya (any more than anybody else here!), but the more you type , the less one has to guess.

I couldn't agree more...I just do this to get away for awhile when I'm on a break at work. Doesn't leave me a lot of time to type out thoughts or ideas in great detail (I'm a slow typer too). I thought I was giving a lot of detail for what I was trying to say in the short amount of time I have...Good thing to know I guess....gotta get back too work:rant:
