My new antique 1965 Merc Model 110 needs a new set
of points. Bought a flywheel puller, got that off, don't
see a set of points anywhwere. So somebody tells me there
under the silver plate beneath all these strange looking
electrical components.....that's where I'm lost at.
Anybody know how to change the points on an old
Merc 9.8HP? Thanks folks...........Joe

The shaft that the flywheel was on, is there a little part that rides on this as it rotates? This will be the points. The shaft at that point well be shaped with lobes on it to open the points as it turns. There might be a little resister also attached to the points. These also go bad.

I am assuming it is like most other small engines I have seen.
I maybe wrong! Check out this site and see if it looks familiar.

Thanks for the reply Big Frank, however I'm still in the dark
on this one. Can't find the points. I'm expecting to see points
like you'd see on a '65 camaro....just set the gap.
Your website referral didn't have my serial # listed.
Here's the complete info breakdown:
1965 Mercury Kiekhaefer Model 110 Dyna Float, 9.8 HP
Serial number 1908206.
Maybe they're not called points, stator plate was mentioned...
Anyone? Please help an amature on this fine Labor Day......

Big Frank, I found it at your referral site.....thanks.
Had to go to stator plate breakdown, & sure nuff
there's the breaker points. So now it's off to the tool box,
then tomorrow I'll take it in & have them repair the damage
I'm about to inflict upon 'er......just kidding.
Thanks again & talk to you later.......Joe
