Had a little luck on panfish this morning. Between two of us we brought home 17 real nice bluegills and sunfish using jigs tipped with crawlers and leeches. Also got one 17 in. walleye and several undersize pike. Most fish came out of 11' of water. Nice day to be out. The ramp was very busy when we left.

I wanted to get up there this summer but never got the chance. Sounds like you guys had a great time with alot of good fish!!
I took the boys out there on Sat. the 7th. We brought home 30 nice bluegills. I hardly got to fish my own rod as I was busy taking off their fish and baiting hooks. Also caught two small pike and a largemouth bass doing a little trolling after their arms got tired. What a great day. Hoping to get up there again this Sat. if all goes well. We were in about 8' of water off the south DNR launch by the school. Alot of crappies were being caught out a little deeper by others.

Was on Houghton all day Saturday the 7th....MAN what a lake...fishing is awesome since the killed off the millfoil. fish have no place to hide. Crappie were running 13+ inches...got a couple perch that were 11 and 12...Gills were large and pletiful. Small pike were many and annoying lol...only got 2 bass and one walley..but all in all..a FANTASTIC day of fishing. I Definatly want to go back soon...but watch the water levels...many places around the lake are really near dry...cabin we stayed at, we had to DRAG our boats out almost 100 yards....try that with a 17ft bass boat and full tank of fuel...OUCH...no fun....But still worth the work to catch fish like that...
If you go...work the 10-12 ft range almost anywhere on the lake...you will see pockets of boats in those areas, count on them catching fish too...Troll very slow for eyes and pike...or work minnows or worms for panfish...Have a blast...we sure did..

Where were you staying. My parents have a place in zone 24. When we have been up there this year fishing has been fantastic since the weed killoff. We fished just past dark and did excellent on walleyes by the marina. Pike were a gas we caught a lot of them in the 20 inch range. Crappie were huge as well were the gills.
