Unless it was announced today, Ross is still in business. G5 used to make the risors and cams for Ross...Ross had/has some financial issues so G5 took the risors and cams they made for Ross and added G5 strings and now call the bow Quest. The Gordon glass limbs are the same as well. The Quest is nothing more than a Ross with a different name slapped on the limbs. And like everything in the archery business, there is a lawsuit pending..........

Correct, Ross is still in business, they are just looking for a new machinist. G5 got tired of waiting for back payments from Ross, assembled the risers, cams, idlers, and limbs with their strings, their cable guards, and the quest sticker, and began selling the bows a few weeks ago. Dealers began receiving the bows last week.

The bow is basically a Ross Cardiac. The G5 rep I talked to said that they'll do warranty work on Ross Cardiacs but not on any of the CR models.

G5 did the machining and film dipping for Ross...so everything is the same. Just a different sticker, strings, and cable guard. It's my understanding also that the G5 bow is 100-150.00 less than the Ross. Basically Ross was just the distributer, so they're able to eliminate the middle man cost. Sounds like a win/win to me...another MI company growing into the bow market.

With non payment to G5 I think Ross is gonna be hardpressed to find a quality machine shop willing to do the work without ample security in place. Nonetheless, I wish both companies the best.

i read this in another archery fourm(guess where:))

I received the following email from Angie Ross, and the same info. is posted now on their forums. They do want to stress the fact that they are not trying in any way to harm or belittle the other company, but do have concerns about them using Ross parts/ideas etc.

To all our Ross Archery friends,

We are writing this to address some rumors going around the archery industry.. The most frusturating part of this for us is that we are in the right, and would love to show our hand. We believe Grace Engineering/G5 is attempting to put out a bow utilizing Ross Archery designs, parts, and tooling. However at the advice of our legal council we are being asked to not make any details public regarding our lawsuit. We can however say Grace Engineering/G5 is NOT buying Ross Archery.

In regards to the IRS and our misunderstanding of the FET tax, we are in full complience and have taken the necessary steps to resolve this matter.

Andy and I started Ross Archery 4 years ago, and feel blessed to have been accepted into the archery world. We had a goal of selling a few hundred bows a year, and the hopes of growing the company for our 4 children to take over. We never dreamed at our first ATA show we would be where we are today. Ross Archery has grown beyond a small family business and we are taking the necessary steps to position ourselves for future growth . (Again not with Grace Engineering/G5).

We thank you all for your support, and please believe the best is yet to come,
Angie and Andy Ross

P.S. Andy wanted me to tell everyone Pick-N-Sick!!

As far as Ross, I'd say stick a fork in them, cause they are done. G5 filed the lawsuit on the 12th in Detroit and the IRS has leins against Ross. Yes the FET Tax thing can be confusing when you don't pay it.
I have know Grace Mfg.for years. There expertise ranges from aerospace parts to medical implants such as bone screws. As far as Grace stealing Ross secert, what a joke. I am sure the bow is way better because of Grace Mfg.

yes its true that bowtech(savage arms) is buying ross. Ross will continue to honor any warranty claims. They will still be making bows under the ross name. Not a whole lot will change except that we will see alot more ross bows out there now that they have excellent financial support behind them.

g5 will not be part of ross or bowtechs future. Alot of other people are also going to question them because of slapping there names on the ross parts they made for ross and using and selling them as there own. Lawsuit may be a little bit down the road. Plus i wouldnt want to use them knowing what they did to ross. Yes ross probably did owe them money but it was ross' design and parts. We will see what happens.

What they did to ROSS??? Ross entered into a contract with Grace to manufacture parts and ROSS stuck them for 6 figures. There is nothing hard to figure out about who screwed who in that deal.

Ross designs?? Grace's Mfg. Engineers laughed when ROSS told them how to fixture the blank for the riser in the mill. They milled a riser a hell of alot faster then ROSS ever did.

Grace also helped redesign the bow for better performance and reduction in cost to manufacture.

G5 has at least one if not 2 full time patent attorneys so I would think that they have their bases covered.

I've known Lou Grace for years. One of the greatest guys I know.

I agree on all counts. I was just curious if MM had some 'inside' info other than the speculation everyone else has. Savage/Bowtech has yet to confirm any of this so until then I'll just wait and see.

Don't know about the Bowtech buying ROSS but with ROSS in trouble with the IRS and vendors I would be surprised if anyone would want to get mixed up in that. They maybe able to screw the vendors but not the IRS.

If ROSS is such a great product with great potential why did they have problems getting & keeping investors?
Why weren't they making money? Poor business plan? Mismanaged? low market share?
Whats in it for Bowtech?

all i can say is that there is something pending. Cant say specifics because i dont know everything about it and dont want to say something that isnt fact. I have gotten my info from a source very close to the situation. As for the 6 fiqures you say ross owes g5 is funny. Not even close to that amount. LOL

Yes, maybe your are right. But it seems funny that they - G5 Outdoors would file a lawsuit, in a Detroit court, for a paltry sum of money owed them by Ross as you elude to.

My company has sold over $600,000 worth of equipment to Grace and our terms are net 30. They have never been late. I think I'll take them at their word on this.
