Well grouse season opens in 10 more days than the 12 gauge gets to go boom boom. Yeha. The woods are full of cubby's of grouse. This year should be another good year for shooting our fine feathered friend Mr. Grouse. Oops I'm not sexist I'll shoot Mrs. Grouse too, lol. It doesn't matter where you go driving down the forestry roads, walking the woods, or taking the quad out on the grades they are all over. Happy hunting all.

And a special note to Trout, when you and Cindy get up here I plan on having either a turkey done in Joe's deep fryer (yum yum) or a partridge feed if we can get enough birds. So bring your appetites :). Born

Hey Born,
Sorry I took so long to say Hi.
Just got back from Ohio, and yes a good meal sounds great.
I've still got deer meat too.
Of course it's that corn fed doe from last year I hope you don't mind L.P. deer. :)
Hey I can hardly wait to make the trip up to your neck of the woods.
This is going to be a great time for sure.
Take care and say Hi to Joe for us.

Well 2 days into bird season hunting is slow. Every guy is out there chasing birds, lol. But there are lots of birds out there. The cover still is pretty thick but hope to have some heavy frost to help kill it off, after bear season tho of course, lol. Well time to go have to rest up for tomorrows bird hunt :). Born

Born,
Do you have a bird dog?
Doc loves to hunt grouse maybe that'll help.
Any fish biting up there?
See you in a few days or so.
Good luck hunting

Well the snow slowed down the hunting a bit but there are still plenty of birds out there. I've had my dog duckman out teaching him about grouse hunting and walking the grades. We are seeing plenty of birds. The hunting is alot easier since the snow knocked down all those nasty weeds. If your road hunting the forest sevice roads good luck so is everyone else in the state. Your best luck is walking or taking the 4 wheeler out.
I cooked up a batch of pats this weekend YUM YUM. Good luck hunting those lil feathered guys, lol. Born

Hey!, Are you seeing any woodcock or did they pack their bags and head south?? We are coming north to Channing on Sat. Hopefully the snow will mostly be gone by then. Then maybe we can get further back in!
My buddy that I was gathering info for is up around your area right now. He is staying with someone in WI and hunting MI.
