I know what brace height is, but i dont know exactly what it means and what is better. I know every bow out there that is one of the main stats given but i guess i just dont understand why. Any help is appreciated.

BH is the distance between the grip and the string. What the significance is pertains to what is known as the power stroke. That's the distance the string travels from full draw to where the arrow is released. The shorter the BH the longer the powerstroke. Because a shorter BH means the arrow remains on the string longer through the powerstroke, it means that you have more time for any flaws such as bow torque to show up in your shooting form. The trade off is that because their is more "power" developing in the longer power stroke, you normally gain speed. Here's an example of what I mean. If you have a 29" DL with a 7" BH you have 22" of power stroke. With the same DL and a 6" BH you have 23" of powerstroke. The more powerstroke you have the faster the speed and consequently the more time to show torque issues.

Here's another explanation that might help http://www.huntersfriend.com/bowselection.htm#14-braceheight

This is the reason that bows with more BH are generally more forgiving and easier to tune. Speed comes from cam design and to a lesser degree, BH. Hence the more difficulty tuning faster bows.
