Getting Boat Ready

Anyone getting the itch yet? I went and paid my $42. today for my boat registration. Won't be long now.

Boat registration is a minor event (to me) in getting my boat ready.

Spring Start-Up


Check Trailer Lights, Tires and Air Pressure, Check Bearings and Brakes, Grease Bearings (following reassembly)
Check All Oil Levels and Grease Fittings(O/D, Engine, Kicker)
Check Battery Water Levels & Clean Connections
Check to Assure Bilge Pump is Operational ( Line clear and pumping)
Re-torque Head Bolts
Clean Flame Arrestor
Replace or Re-gap Spark Plugs
Add Sea Foam / Run Out Remaining Fuel, Run Kicker
Check all Water Hoses and Fuel Lines for Wear (while motor is operating)
Change Water Separator Filter
Check all Electrical, Lighting/Electronics Operations, Riggers, Nav./GPS, Speed/Temp, Fish Finder.
Check All Safety Appliances:Shake Fire Extinguishers to loosen agent, Check Gauges, Check Flare Exp. Dates, Check First Aid Kit Contents, Boat horn, Back Up Air Horn, VHF reception /transmit before leaving the pier heads(get a location from response to assure distance) Spare Cell Phone Battery Charged, Monitor all of above on shakedown.


I wished All I had was to deal with Sec. of State. Anyways, with that I'm good til next year.

Good Check list, I do just about all the above.

Myself too, also do the above. Just something else to see it spelled out in a list ! I think all responsible boaters should check that list over for their vessle. Just may save yourself some serious grief. ;)

One more year for the registration here though. :)

:yeahthat: The one thing left on my list is to buy 3 new 12 ga. flares. Mine expire in July. I just got my registration back. I have a bunch of expired flares. I like to have the extras onboard just in case.
