I know that the really cold days are going to be mostly behind us. However, what do some of you guys do for Throttle/Gear Shifter freezeup on console controls? It would be nice for the boat to be indoors, but that is not an option. Thanks in advance.

I have been throwing a heater on the lowest point in the cable and it unlocks within a minute or two. I was trying to move the heater all up and down the cable but was told that it is usually frozen in the lowest point so that is a good place to start.

silicon spray helps alot!- Soak it...

Come on just fish when it is warm and you don't have to worry about it....

Soak with silicon spray is a good start. Protect your boat hopefully you can store it indoors (preferably semi-heated) at a min. keep it covered. When trailoring I keep a contractor garbage bag over my center console and throttle controls. If that doesn't work plan B then plan C.

As AB Mentioned ;) the low points are a good place to start as well as the the turns and just warm it up slow so you don't melt your cable.

When I used to store my boat outside I would shovel it off all the time and I also would stick a sheet of aluminum voer it and then a tarp and I would put a heater in there to try to warm stuff up.....

Thanks, all good ideas.

Yes indoor storage would be ideal, but, in my neck of the woods...$$$$$.
