Any of u guys put those slick pads on your bunk boards?i guess it makes it way easyer to drive the boat back on the trailer when loading.i know keep your boat straped down until at waters edge, dont want to be that guy with his rig laying on the ground and dudes taking pic's....:D

Before I got a well I launched at "steep" St.Jean.
After a few tears I had to replace my winch post from the stress of winching the boat up on the carpeted bunks.
I put 5 bunks slicks on each bunk and it made a big difference.

Thanks for the feed back fellas,i think im gonna install them on my trailer this first trip to the dr.hotwired thats my prob. pulling the boat up with the winch is very stressful to the strap and winch, although i drive the boat on the trailer most of the time....raymond s. did your boat really slide off the trailer?

Yes,
Pastrick Marina, early season, DAD'S boat, roller trailer...3 other inexperienced guys 1 being the driver. I was standing in the boat as they backed down the ramp and then decided to STOP!!!. Why I have no idea, all I can say is I about shat right there when I was sliding down the ramp and the truck was stopped. Luckily the outboard was up, boat slid off and just layed right down on one of the ribs on the bottom, hooked the strap back up, couple guys hung on the front and cranked it back up. Didn't go as far as to even scratch the bottom. More embarrassing than anything. Could have been alot worse but definitely a lesson I will never forget.
Now, I back the trailer as far into the water as possible and still being able to unhook the winch and SAFETY CHAIN!, stop, unhook winch and chain and throw mooring line, then proceed the rest of the way. And when pulling the boat out, I make damn sure if I'm not the one that winched it up they lock the winch and put the chain back on..."HEY, lock the winch, Snap the chain..!!! HEY, are you SURE you hooked the chain!!!" "yeah yeah I got the chain"..."No really, are you SURE?":dizzy:

wow that could of been way worse...im the same way with checking the rig over,i will let one of the green horns drive the truck, while i hook up.peace of mind"buddies call it being anal"but it wouldent be there $20,000 walleye boat laying on its side on the ramp.....

I put a pair of these on my boat last summer. So far they have been great, they are not as stiff as the old 2X6 wood carpeted bunks but they still support the boat. It just slides on and off now and doesn't scratch the paint. I put them on because the old bunks rotted out and the carpet held water which caused the trailer to rust. I think they were worth the money!

Consider buying the 2X4s that are made entirely out of slick material. Lasts a lifetime, no carpeting needed...

Just ordered slick 2X4s, $77 for a pair of 7 footers, no delivery fee... Considering the cost of treated wood, gas to Home Depot and back, bunk carpet, + shipping, time and labor(cheap), not a bad deal....

Those bunk boards look pretty cool, I'll have to get some of those. Right now I'm just using liquid rollers on my trailer. Works great. Have to keep the safety chain when using it. Noticed a HUGE difference cranking the boat onto the trailer.
