I bought some of this today,,I think it is crap it is real stiff and comes uncoiled and makes a mess,I use XT all the time with out any problems ,,must be something about the red:mad::mad::confused:
All XT I've used is stiff. It's just the nature of the line. I've used 6,8,10,12 and 20lb XT in clear, green and red and it's all been stiff.
That being said red line gives you nothing and it nothing more than a fad, much like the red hook and I will stick by that until somebody using red line or a red hook outfishes me.

You're sure you didn't get it on your reel backwards?

For my money, Maxima Ultragreen is about the perfect monofilament to use for mainline. It is fairly stiff, but it also breaks at higher tension than the rating on the line. Not nearly as stiff as Trilene XT. I switched from Trilene about 20 years ago, and have never looked back. Not sure why you would want red line, but the Ultragreen is okay for me to see, except in the lowest light conditions.

It is one of the worst lines for memory too. I used it and don't even care for it as a filler.
